Hong Kong 2024

Lee Tung Street

A trip to Hong Kong and back to Malaysia precipitated self-reflection , exposing a complex emotional landscape devoid of clear definition. Returning to the territory as a former resident rekindled my affinity for the region and its lasting nostalgic appeal.

Time -honored family -owned business continued to uphold their traditions , whereas other faced challenges adapting to the expanding influence of the mainland Chinese market, potentially compromising Hong Kong ‘s standing as a leading commercial and culinary destination. Despite the considerable changes since the millennium, Hong Kong ‘s reputation as a gastronomic remined unchanged.

Kudat 2024

The first capital of Borneo and a bustling trading post in the 19 century , now is famous for its beaches , which are among the most un-spoilt in Sabah.

The Tip of Boreno

At Borneo's northernmost extremity, Kudat, the one-time capital of Sabah, gazes out upon the South China Sea. Presently cherished mainly by Sabah locals, its allure is expanding as tourists discover its outstanding seafood. Merging old-world village charm with a storied World War 2 past, Kudat warrants investigation, when time allows.

Embark on a day trip to Kota Marudu , surrounded by breathtaking scenery throughout , totally a blessing with a hot and cosy coffee to stop-by.

Another stop - by at a village Museum

Kudat seafood experience continues, decent taste at affordable rates , embodying humble , spirit of a small town. Seafood tasting here is more than a surprise , a must try option.

Planet kudat Cafe $ Bar..

Savoring fresh seafood at Kudat along the south China Sea Coast is a great value , with 8 adults dining to their fullest for $420

Old Town Old Mural…more than a decade ?

The grass is known as ‘Kutad’ in the Rungus dialect , now replaced as Kudat is the most northerly major town in Sabah , and indeed in all Boreno. Fresh peanut processed to all kinds of popular tasty items , mouth watering catch of the day which all offer an awesome feed to all vistors , an awesome visit indeed 2024.

Kota Kinabalu 2024 Food Tours

The food tour of 2024 at K.K. presented numerous surprises with friends and family , whether through home- cooked meals or restaurant outings. Having taken an extended break from home , readjusting to my usual routine required time , even though my travels to HK, Guangzhou , Singapore and Penang resulted in a 10 - pounds weight gain ; memories, however , remained the priority , plus….

A Rich Journey 2024

Feel free to taste fresh crabs, extraordinary Hainanese chicken rice, rich pepper pork belly soup, and braised duck. They are all carefully prepared by top folk experts. No reason is needed, just because of the sincere hospitality to guests. This kind of human virtue is almost impossible to replicate. .

Rosacooks Home cooking @ K.K. 2024🥰

Rosacooks presents a dining table spread of Hainan Chicken Rice, steamed seven star grouper, soy sauce-infused tiger prawns and stir-fried potatoes vegetables.

Homemade seven -star grouper fish head rice noddle breakfast, fresh fish and fresh ingredients gifted by an old friend…tasty as it looks😋

I genuinely appreciate the refreshing taste of Dragon Fruit Juice harvested right from the tree.

Outstanding home catering services providing mouth-watering menus catering to entire families, featuring traditional village-style Malay cuisine highly valued for its authentic flavors

$ 40.00 Ringgit per person, not bad with tasty menu by village chef here. 😀

***tasty brown rice and my homemade red bean dessert😎

Family restaurant outing at Jothy’s Curry House-

K.K, established in 1987, presents exquisite Indian Cuisine, complemented by warm services and diverse menu options, ensuring family satisfaction.

***I was told that put the spoon on top of the folded banana leaf after meal is the respectful gesture to the chef here😎

The Dim Sum restaurant in K.K. achieves average standards, however its prices are substantially lower than those in Toronto and HK, thereby limiting the feasibility of a direct comparison.

A reasonable price paired with excellent cuisine and ambiance makes for a perfect dining experience at this Indonesian restaurant, fostering a warm atmosphere ideal for sharing with family.

Popular Indonesia dessert 😍

The lunch buffet at Sutera Pacific Hotel is significantly preferable to the dinner buffet, particularly on nights when tourists are present, as food replenishment is inefficient due to aggressive guest serving. My previous dinner experience was disappointing.

A comfort place for  friends and family with sophisticated meal @ Sutera- Harbour, K.K.

Delicious Curry House sustains its excellence, delivering mouthwatering cuisine at sensible prices, affirming its status as a leading Asian restaurant recommendation.

😁more or less popular food and fruit around K.K 2024

Penang 2024

Entrance view of Cheong Fatt Tze , The Blue Mansion.. confirming the booking for lunch.

Penang , a Malaysian state on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia along the Strait of Malacca , consists of two interconnected parts: Penang Island and The Heritage GerogeTown, its capital. On my travels from Canada , I always enjoy stopping by Penang, alongside Singapore. Having visited eight years ago, I wonder how it has changed. Previously, I was drawn to its distinctive Colonial architecture, which stirred nostalgic memories. Regrettably, this visit has not matched the excitement of my previous experience, as the environment remains largely unchanged or mildly improved, and the influx of tourists, particularly from China, has introduced traffic chaos and overcrowding, altering the tranquil atmosphere I once knew. Nevertheless I still enjoy touring myself this time to my favorite sites once engaged deeply…

Nyonya Museum, the’ Heartbreaking ‘ Blue House’ and sure the fading Street Art alongside the Heritage old time beauty .. Geroge Town Penang.

2024 I adventured this visit at an established boutique hotel in the heart of Georgetown Penang. This is an uitimate comfort and nostalgic ambiance in the best location at an affordable rate.’ LIKE’ for sure😎

This image shows a peaceful and beauty of the old time wisdom...

No elevator, a magical rope  save the earth I guess😁

A service experience of commitment and enthusiasm  that create an old time favor.

The hotel itself was a shadow of its once former glory, and now the present owner undertook a major renovation and transformed it into a Colonial charm Of Asian heritage throughout the whole premises, very much impressed here.

The outside view of Campbell House

Inside view …😎

Comfortable reading corner just outside my room &

The unique celling fan

Impressively very much enjoyed dinner at this Italian restaurant too.

Melt in your mouth menu, fresh baked bread so and so…

Overall , a satisfying stay for three nights 2024

The first Nyonya lunch after loading the luggage 😎

Baba Phang 17, Jalan Sri Bahari, 10050 Geroge Town

Popular Lemongrass and ginger tea , one cold one hot served here

Two different type of Nyonya Rice.., classic aromatic mixed raw herbs rice

.. and popular ‘Nasi Kerabu’

I prefer the ‘ blue butterfly pea flower rice😎, always simple but significant .

Tau Ewe Bak( soy sauce pork) and special fresh house made Tofu

The soul of all Nyonya Cuisine ..Baba Chili Sauce with Lime

Awesome experience here , staff and food are just perfect as I desired.

An interesting day trip with an honest rickshaw man , non pricey $40;00 Ringgit  took us around the City’s UNESCO Heritage Site and stops at many of the Penang Street Art which is almost everywhere through Geroge Town

Here we go…

There are more not captured , and some are faded as it aged. The City Government then posting a special’ AREA’ to promote the Tourism with new Street Art..

let’s exploring now…

It starts here...

😁 Even the garbage tin is Street Art too...

The next stop at The Peranakans, Baba’s and Nyonya’s Museum, over 1000 pieces of antiques and collectibles of the era on display, having survived the many decades of neglect and decay, the mansion has now been restored to its former glory of a stately home. That’s why I urged to visit one more time after 8 years.

Craze Rich Asian😆is here...

Welcome guy at the entrance, with $25:00 Ringgit all full touring service, reasonable offer right ?

Love seat and its details😀

Would you mind to have a Rooster and a Hen under your wedding bed on the first night ?

***Make sure to distinguish clearly the bride first born is boy or girl by putting the ‘Rooster’and ‘Hen ‘under the wedding bed; so next morning the elder will confirm ‘Rooster or Hen ‘come out first from the cage.. those were the days😅!!!

The Wealth and the Gold😆

The business..

The courtyard and ancestral hall..

The richest Nyonya Kitchen

The moon cake mode and cooking utensils..Wow

In addition, adjacent to the mansion stood the ancestral hall, paying tribute to Chung Keng Quee, the venerable ancestor and his family lineage. This estate was uniquely inherited by 5 heirs, , a rare exception to Chinese cultural norms. Following years of neglect, fell into disrepair, a property developer revitalized the estate in the 1990s, who subsequently transformed it into a museum showcasing Penang’s Peranakan heritage. So we are all welcome here to enjoy and tour the good old days.

The front view inside the entrance

Next , we proceed to the renowned Heritage Attraction, The Blue House Mansion of Cheong Fatt Tze, a prominent landmark in Geroge Town, Penang. Now it is transformed into a boutique hotel and historical site. The Mansion ‘s narrative began in the late 19th Century when cheong Fatt Tze envisioned a majestic and elegant residence for his heirs. However following his passing in 1916, the estate fell into disrepair, and plus the death of his last son, only to be later acquired by conservationists who meticulously restored it. Today 2024 I have the pleasure of revisit and indulging in the exceptional fusion cuisine at Indigo restaurant, arguably Penang’s must try dining experience, with the added benefit of waived entrance fees for lunch and dinner patrons, an undeniably reasonable offer.

Memories of the fallen glory..

Mouthwatering Fusion Lunch..

Warm crispy bread, starter and main menu -beef cheek stew and lamb stew..😋

Passionate dessert

Following You-tube recommendations , my Penang breakfast was a resounding success. The small lane -side establishment , popular daily despite opening after 8 am, serves meticulously prepare food. The well- trained staffs ‘s efficiency and courteous demeanor impressed, considering the humble street food ambiance, this underscores the modern consumer’s appreciation for quality and refined service.

It is really good..😋passionate hearty done for sure, I was impressed.

Crispy curry beef samosas , always sold out after 10 am. The store is 5 minutes walking distance from Campbell House, lucky me😄

Street Hawker foodie here and there is satisfying

Bye- Bye Penang, honestly no plan for next visit yet , hopefully in a year or two.

Singapore 2024

It all begins with an idea.

The Land Mark of Singapore

Located in maritime Southeast Asia, the Republic of Singapore is an island nation and city - state that borders the crucial Strait of Malacca, facilitating trade between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. With its rich history and effective governance , Singapore stands out as a secure haven for brief stays, consistently impressing me across four visits. The city ‘s public transportation network is lauded for its efficiency and inclusivity. Notably, Singapore harmoniously blends diverse languages , religions , and cultures. Its nickname , the Lion City , underscores the remarkable variety of its cuisine, justifying its popularity as a quick getaway following extended travel.

With sound management and leadership in place, the tube enforces a stringent no food or drink rule , ensuring a uniformly hygienic and disciplined setting everywhere, a clean and well - disciplined environment.

posting everywhere of the tube walking area😎

Place where I stayed this visit - the rich heritage of Little India , whose main thoroughfare , Serangoon Road was one of the 3 earliest roads in Singapore.

Owen House by Habyt , ( Previously Hmlet ) , a chicest boutique hotel near the MRT station. A family -friendly stay in a convenient location , and it is surrounded by India restaurants , overall it is a decent option for me as I love banana leaf rice pairing well with my favorite curry dishes.

Gandhi Restaurant - family owned restaurant- Little India..$ price right , taste right , why not..😎

Popular teh tariki 😀

China Town…a good place for trendy eateries , a mix of heritage temples , street market.. so and so plus signature beef jerky and pork jerky..星加坡萬里香肉乾😋

Marina Bay Sands Casino- located at Bayfront MRT station ( CE1/DT16) , in the downtown Core of Singapore.

The shoppes at the Marina Bay Sands mall, a museum, a large theatre “celebrity chef “ restaurants , two floating crystal pavilions more and more of course including world ‘s large atrium casino with the complex includes three towers topped by the Sands Skypark. A must “ Visit” spot, I mean it🧡
