Steps:
1: wash the dates, soak the tangerine peel ahead , then use a big pot with water (1000ml) and slimmer for 30 mins …then set for 60 mins.
2: Strain well and retain the red date juice about 800ml , mix 1 cup of water with the red dates remains into paste with a blender. Strain the paste and mix it with the red dates juice , set aside.
3. add the raw slab sugar into the red date juices , slimmer until sugar all melted and set aside.
4: sift all flour, gradually add into the warm red date juice mixture ,stir to combine.
5: add 3 table spoon of oil as a final stir of the batter...
6: pour the batter into a well oiled pan , cover the container with tin foil and steam with boiling water in a steamer for 60-75 mins over medium heat. ( plenty of water to start with)
7:remove the pan and let the cake set for at least 60 mins to make sure it i s completely cooled .
8: use a sharp small knife or spatula to loosen the sides and turn the cake out , this is a sticky cake so quite sticky even it is cooked😁.
Tips : Make the sticky cake in advance before Chinese New Year ,refrigerate the cake after it is done, so as to harden for easier cutting to slices, then pan fry and serve whenever you wish😘
